The Weekend that flew!!

Roger Roger burning bright
In the grandslams of the night
what immortal hand or eye
could frame thy fearful game??

Oh yes i am talking about my spectacular weekend that flew by like hours and most of the time i was marvelling at this man, so i decided to tweak the blake's eternal lines on tiger so that it will show his true magnificence!!

The best part of the weekend happened to be the fact that i was able to watch the semis and finals of Australian open and all sports from chennai cricket match till FA cup till WWE,though i was disappointed with the defeat of maria at the hands of serena it was compensated by FedExpress's win!!

What can i say about federer, he is the ultimate machine and am sure he will upstage the gr8 pistol pete in becoming the greatest tennis player of all time, winning an australian open without losing a set is a herculean task in itself,he intimidates his opponents by playing their own games against them for instance if any one is a good baseline player he defeats him using his own technnique, even the pistol pete would be proud of his serve & volleys!! he will go along the likes of Michael schumacher,Tiger woods & Michael Jordan when he retires i am hoping that he gets a Grand slam this year!! The last time i saw federer play was in wimbledon last year when he blanked rafael nadal in the final so after a huge gap i happen to see him reach glory woah people should see the semifinal match against Roddick wat a match!!

So much for the FedEx, The journey back was interestin indeed i started home on the day before the Republic day & my favourite means of transport happens to be the Pandian express i dont know why i love that train journey, i came to egmore early as usual and happened to meet some of my friends in colls (thats why i like that train much) but alas to the dismay of everybody the announcer said the train will start late(As it happened to be republic day the very next day, security concerns spurred the delay)!! and it did happen like that after a tiring wait for nearly 2 and half hours train started by that time i had met nearly 10 of my college mates..

Train journeys are always interesting and this too would have been even more interesting had the train started early, it started around 11 so i cant have much roaming to do in train, This time my interest factor happened to be 2 different families in 2 different compartments next to each other, first of them happened to be a brahmin family i guess they were on the way to trichy, the aroma of tamarind rice(all of them opened their packages once they boarded the train) called popularly as puliyodharai was filling the entire compartment and that compartment was buzzing with life and i had trouble getting to the other end of the compartment, it was a pretty ordinary sight nothing special about it but when i entered the next compartmen t it was an exact ulta of what i have seen in the previous compartment..

The second compartment had a north indian family or a seth family as we south indians call it,talk about unity in diversity i have seen that live, there it was tamarind rice here it was a whole variety gulab jamun, milk sweets and chapathi and the kids in both families too the first set of kids were silent and were sitting beside their parents and second set was a plump one and i saw a guy feeding a kid who looked like Junior bluto(bluto of popeye fame) with a chapathi who already had 2 gulab jamuns in his mouth and lots more sweet in his hand saying to his friend "He doesnt eat well these days!!" Arey!! i cant help laughin out that time and one more funny incident of TTR getting some sweet syrup on his jacket!!(that happened during my return when i decided to return to my compartment after that roaming even my jacket had some close calls) and i was amazed at the sight of these entirely different families and i stood at the junction and listened to one typical tamil conversations in one side and hindi in other it was not a pure hindi that i can tell, like rajiv speaks ranchi i thought it must be a derived one too!! i stood there for around 10 mts but so many comic instances occured since it was so late i decided to retire to my compartment and end my voyage, Had the train started early am sure i would have had more funnier events to quote here but i have decided hereforth whenever i go home it will be in pandian express only!!

The delay spoiled my schedule for watching republic day parade in DD, its been my routine for many years,India though we are advancing in weapon technologies we need lots a more ground to cover, but i always feel proud of our indian army our jawans..US no matter how much weapon technology it has, it never has soldiers like us!! Veer Jawans!!Hats off to them!!

Then i dont know how the weekend flew, enjoyed mom's food, FedEx's game, Lara's cameo boy i missed it live in chennai, people in chepauk would have had their money's worth..Artist @ work so sad i missed it!! and the happiest moment of all i got my hands around "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" the book i had been hunting for so long,Thanks to my very specialllllllllllll buddies who got that one for me!!

Wish i had more weekends and more train journeys like that!!Untill next time!! cheers!!

I agree, train journeys are so much fun. And my favorite train is most definitely Pallavan Express - man, nothing like the masala dosa and coffee they serve on board (at least 7 yrs back, I donno how it is now though).

train journeys are interesting only in the south of the country. If you go north, you will hatetrain journey.South of vindyas is much better for train journey.

Aussie open i was expecting a federer vs nadal clash.Hopefully it comes in french open in may. Nadal should win french open.Federer might go the sampras way.

@nana one thing u ought to remember nana the gr8 pistol pete never made it to the finals of french open but fedex has done tat so it will be a matter of time before he wins there, wait and see, Southern railways is simply way ahead of its northern counterpart i have heard weird stories from many ppl who have travelled north da..
