Old songs.. New Music..

The insight to this post came to me when i was watching sun music last night , the song happened to be "Ennadi Muniyama" from arjun film Vaathiyar which was played for the 4th time overall in as many channels ever since i switched on the tv @9.00 PM last nite.. the song was a remix of the old song with some good beat music and dance is one of the peppy tunes in the town.. this is not the first time the remix song is topping the charts.. its becoming a trend now.. old songs in new clothes of music!!

As far as i know it the remix trend started with a film named kurumbu though it was a big flopper it had one song "Aasai 100 Vagai" of rajnikanth remixed to a faster beat the song was a hit though.. then ARR clearly gave a new meaning to the word remix with the song "Thottal Poo Malarum" in the filme new using the old MGR song, infact we cant call that as a remix infact it was a whole new genre..then many new remixes followed but notably successful songs include "En Aasai Mythili" a beat song from film Manmadhan which was a remix of TR's old slow song...one Jayam ravi song "Va Va Va" i dunno the film which was a remix of "Adiye Manam nilluna nikadhu" song of thiagarajan n silk smita..

plus currently we have three remix ones one of them being the Arjun song i mentioned earlier.. then other being the "Ennama kannu" from thiruvilayadal which is a remix of old Rajnikanth & satyaraj song.. i liked the old song much more.. then there is a speculation that a remix song is in upcoming pokiri film also.. well wat made the music directors turn back to the old times(may be they dont have tracks on their kitty??).. i think the prime reason of this is due to the case more like in evolution & Fashion where in a species completely extincts or like a trend that goes obsolete has every chance of making a comeback(in both cases), lyk in the case of resurgence of boot cut pants... so i guess the trend is goin frenzy these days.. people are infact starting to like it.. infact in suriyan fm we have a special remix show where in so many young music director wanna bes show their stuff in that program.. but hope it doesnt stop the creativity of the new thots n ideas which also should come now & then..

well if we think its the case here only in kollywood, its certainly not in bollywood instead of remixing a song they are remaking the entire old movies itself.. last year itself we had two notable releases(if u r wondering how i know abt bollywood, i just happen to the see the year in review of bollywood cinema!! tats all) like umrao jaan and all eyes are awaiting the release of Ram gopal varma's sholay including me as i have happnd to c the original film many times..Remake frenzy is coming up in kollywood also where in Ajith is slated to star in Rajni's Billa film.. n speculations are also made that vijay is also doing one like Ajith..

Wat about Hollywood then?? its the same case there too.. pretty recently we have remakes galore season..the present trend started by Peter Jackson's remake of king kong.. wat a film it was..Then the trend continued this year also with big remake hits like Casino royale..Hills have eyes...The Departed.. Omen(Remake) all grossing huge profits through out the world.. then ther are many films due to come in this year.. most notable of them being the Hitcher and the The Invasion of body snatcher's remakes..

so the remake and remix versions are ruling the world big time, mainly because of the increase in technlogy and current trends in cinematography which help in adding some fine makeup to the already big hits.. Anyways Audience wont worry whether it be the remake or the original as long as the film gives good entertainment cause thats wat matters @ the end..hope the current generation of film makers takes remix to a newer & more enjoyable dimension than wat it is now..But the real challenge will be to remake a flopped film.. no one has tried their hand @ it.. lets wait and see who knows it may happen any time!!! till then cheers.. Until nxt time!!!
