Stop Retiring please!!

Here i am again for yet another sports blog after a long time..i had planned to do this long time back but was in draft for a long time so i decided to let it go live.. for there are too many posts in drafts pretty recently..

For a sports fan this blog will show how much the sporting world has lost in the past 5/6 months!! As for me i was an ardent fan of everyone who happened to bid adieu to the sport they cherished, and am wondering when will the hollow left out by these people will be filled??

First on the list is Damien Martyn. This stylish middle order batsman announced his retirement ahead of the fourth ashes test against england fearing that he doesnt want to be outclassed by his peers!! wat a team they got.. Another notable thing is that Australia regained its first ever champions trophy last year thanks to some brilliant stuff from him!! World will miss his cover drive!! awesome to watch!!

Next on the list is my yet another fav australian viz Ian Thorpe aka the Thorpedo who has reigned supreme in all prime swimming tournaments, most notable of them being the 1999 & 2004 olympic showdowns with hoogenband, alexander popov and phelps..The Australian swimming team surely will miss him in the next olympics..

The one half of the greatest opening pair in test cricket history is the next on the list, incidentally i just noticed many of them from the list happens to be that of the australians call it coincidence or irony!! some say its going to be the end of aussie domination without players like this,Langer had always lived upto his potential in test cricket he has seen many opening partners in Mark Taylor, Matthew Elliott untill he formed a brilliant sync with Run machine hayden these two had broken every record for the opening partnerships in test cricket, he announced his retirement ahead of fifth test and he left on a high as well along wit warnie and mcgrath..Wat a player!!

A Champion is next on my list, the one who probably started the retirement season i should say after a brilliant career he announced his retirement @ the US open 2006 but he was unable to fulfill his dream to finish a career like that of pistol pete's, but despite being the oldest man in the US open last year he played like a lion and defeated top seeds like baghdatis before fitness problem ended his dream!! But he got the best farewell from his home crowd!! A True champion indeed!!

Awesome Twosome are next, Double Trouble as they are known to their opponents who will be very relived to see off their backs they have been the prime reason for the aussies's monumental record primarily in tests, i have dedicated a special blog to them already but world will miss their Wrong Uns and Three quarter length bowling!! Incredibles they were..

Anyone remember him?? its not shawn michaels of wwe fame, he is famed as the best finisher of an ODI match, he has bailed aussies out of trouble in countless number of matches, he had the record for the highest batting average in an ODI untill he was overtaken by recent sensation in mike hussey(u can see a bevan in him!!) His prime performances came in crucial matches like in semifinals of 1996 WC against windies & semifinals of 1999 WC against proteas & he had his moments in 2003 WC also but because of the quality of australian team he was axed from the squad(We had kaif in our team for 4 years for playing well in lords in a single match) because of fitness problems he announced his retirement last week he has broken many records in the pura cup ever since he was dropped from the International squad, No one can run like him between the wickets my dream was to watch Micheal Bevan and Jonty rhodes in a partnership!!

When am i ever gonna see this leap again?? :( The Biggest of all retirements (atleast for me),I still cant accept the fact that the king has left the arena when he still has so much left in him,Legend he is.. i have never followed any sport with that much passion as i followed schumi in F1, i have always looked up to mike as my inspiration the man who redefined F1,who gave a newer meaning to the word Victory!! The King announced his retirement last season after he closed the gap to 2 points to alonso in the Italian GP ,Everybody wrote michael off after the initial part of the season where in alonso dominated but the champion never gave up,he came back from behind and equalled alonso with 2 races to go, but fate had other ideas when his engine blew with him in the lead in the penultimate race with just 15 laps to go.. the same happened in the final race also but schumi showed his resilience in the last race of the season making many breath taking overtakes and fastest laps before bowing off.. I dont think any one will reach near schumi's record in the distant future..The King will always be the King!! Long Live Rainmaster!! F1 will miss you in the coming season(& so will your die hard fans)!!

So that sums up the retirement list that has happened in the past 7 months or so,All of them great, some of them will be remembered as icons of the sport they represented but i hope that retirement season ends atleast for the time sake!! if you are exhausted with the list i have just given, brace yourself cause here are the list of cricketers who will be playing their last world cups, yes WC 2007!!!

Sachin Tendulkar
Brian Lara(My fav batsman of all times hope he goes out on a high with a WC)
Saurav(He still has one more WC left, you could have seen it in yesterday's game!!)
Anil Kumble(I hope he plays in the WC squad)
Sanath Jayasuriya(wont forget his innings against india in 1996 WC)
Inzamam ul haq
Ricky Ponting(can he do a clive Lloyd thing??)
Adam Gilchrist(This will be the last WC for many of the aussies)
Glenn Mcgrath
Stephen Fleming
Nathan Astle
Shaun Pollock
Shivnarine chanderpaul
Darren Gough

i could still go on with some more names, this will be the last world cup with all these veterans doesnt mean they will all retire after the tournament ends they may retire in the years to come but am sure this will be their last world cup for their teams all these players have given so much for the team, so this one will be an emotional world cup when it comes to an end for so many players, so fans dont miss any match!! More detailed analysis of the WC coming soon in a blogger near you!! cheers!! Untill next time!!

You missed out on Mohommad Yossuf and Shohib Aktar. Think(if they play this wc) will be the last for both of them.
Might be the last for Jaques Kallis as well.
