Wish i were a kid again!!!

Today is november 14th and the day we celebrate the children's day to mark the birth day of jawaharlal nehru for his passion towards kids thats all story everyone knows, the reason for this blog is a mail i got in office which got me thinking in flashback all those things i loved doing as a kid..

Those were the times when nothing used to be serious, everything was carefree.. no deadlines to meet and everything done was meant for fun & joy unlike the things one does now..i miss all the listed moments very much.. wish i had a for loop in my life!!!

>> Time collecting Trump cards... what a time it was.. those big fun cards i dont have a stat of how many big funs i ate to collect them.. it was peak during the 96-97 cricket world cup tenure , times spent in collecting(sometimes stealing) cant be replaced & the same thing can be said about wwf trump cards.. anything to get a bret hart hitman's card...

>> Stamps.. it was a time when stamp collection was such a passion i wasnt much off a hardcore philatelist but times spent were divine, cant see much of kids doing that!

>> Cartoon Network.. i always love this channel..even now.. but the quality of the programs during the start of the channel is not present right now, the Hanna Barbara originals were my favourite.. powerzone, wacky races, jetsons & flintstones, penelope pitstop, laff a lympics, scooby specials, dragonballz, swatkats, popeye ,huckleberry finn!!! oh my darling!! i miss all of them very much.. hope CN brings back these classics..

(Update: CN has continued the telecast of Frieza Saga in DBZ from the point where they usually truncate, hope they continue all out till buu saga)

>> 1 Rupee pepsi.. thats how ppl called them i dont know those things are available now & how its called.. those coloured ice juices in packets of all sizes.. brown & pink colors were my personal favourites.. having it in a group chat.. priceless..

>> Sports.. i ran a stat almost 50% of my life s spent on cri,F1 & other sports.. but watching cricket as a kid is always a great sensation than what i watch now..

>>Quizzes.. School quizzing was one of my best parts, had some great partners we were an integral part in all the local quizzes during school.. got rusty once i entered college though held my own in sports alone.. getting a prize in the school prayer function is always very special!! aint it??

>> Computer games... could be labelled for one of my reasons in me losing focus in twelfth & eleventh.. pc games are a different dimension but mario always packed a punch higher than gordon freeman(of half life fame) or master chief(Halo)!

>> Comics!! i can proudly say i was a comic book freak, i am a proud owner of elite batman & superman diamond comics collections, plus my other favourites include tinkle(still comes fortnightly quality has declined may be kids dont read much of it) & some tamil comics they cost around 4 rupees and come week after week.. phantom n flashgordon are my all time favourties..

>> Encyclopaedia Search.. At that time there was no google or wiki, so one has to use the encyclopaedia to find out everythings, offcourse the case studies in schools with encyclopaedia were thrilling to do..its very difficult to get a permission to photocopy the encyclopaedia from library in schools but there was fun in that... how easy things have become with wiki..

i get a bit nostalgic when i did a proof read for this post.. Being a kid is always special but very sad to see the current kid generation being tormented with severe academic burden & cocurricular feats..The happiness one gets with 10 rs as a kid cant be matched by what one has with all those huge bucks made month after month.. as a result i think most kids are deprived of all these now because of the peer pressure, hope the parents also realize that its the only part of the life where the person can enjoy carefree compared to the turbulent waters ahead in everyone's life..
Happy childrens day to all!! There is a child in every man, there is still one for sure in me!!!
