Workaholic

Probably the most intriguing title i had until today. I know it doesn't sound quite like me sadly it's true. Been working my socks off these past 2 weeks and eventually getting to the phase where I call it settling nicely on my groove. I find it hard to believe i didn't touch either of my consoles for a span of 2 weeks (to play games i mean I do use it to watch Netflix and Amazon Instant video on it).

I am writing this on the backdrop of the disappointing end to the campaign for the English Football team. I was hoping for another miraculous semifinal appearance. I feel gutted but I won't delve into more Football in this posting. I SWEAR. I Won't.

In a surprising turn of events I paid a visit to a Comic Book store. I was very impressed with the collection they had. For once I was totally clueless as to which comic book I ought to buy. I came about after finding that I cannot buy Tintin again. Tintin collection seems to be as dead as a DODO with respect to US book stores which startled me quite a bit.

Coming back to the decision which made me confuse. The second reason of my confusion happened to be the choice of finding the starting point to collect my Batman comic collection. Finally after a confusing trance which lasted for a mere 40 minutes (My entire grocery shopping hardly takes 20 minutes) I got these.

Dark Knight Returns

Killing Joke

The Court of Owls

Ever since I finished reading The Long Halloween. I wanted to read the Killing Joke because of the critical acclaim generated by the comic. I was traversing through the preface it had the excerpts from the interviews by Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan. With Tim Burton going to say that if he ever wanted to start a Batman comic collection he would start from there. Plus the story is written by Alan Moore. I had no qualms about picking that one.

The Dark Knight returns was no surprise as the the movie is slated to be released in a span of 3 weeks. I have  a hunch that there could be the plot elements from this book which could be the core for Nolan's finale. Check.

As I was checking out the books at the counter. The store person pointed me to the Court of Owls stating that this is the latest reboot and after playing Arkham City inside out and judging from the plot clues of the Arkham city I think these elements from this comics could be a vital element for the next Arkham game.  Plus that was a hard cover with a very nifty discount on it. Almost pried it from the shop keeper's hands.

As i was talking to him. The owner of the store was rather sad and told me that people buying comics books have dwindled significantly and we always look at the bright side of technology. Ebooks and Comic book readers etc but there is always the concept of two sides to the coin. I wish everyone could make their own luck like Two Face does. I felt rather guilty because my lingering feeling that I could be one of those guys who inadvertently causes that effect. I ended up leaving the shop with lower spirits compared to the gust of energy with which i entered on.

Life always has two sides to every coin doesn't it?

PS: Can anyone tell me why they play this at the Euro? Oh well can't resist adding this.
